Until the abyss

Environment

A documentary film that explores geothermal energy and its challenges.

In a bold quest to achieve its zero-carbon energy goals by 2050, Switzerland is turning to innovative and sustainable solutions.

Until the abyss delves into the heart of Switzerland's energy transition, exploring the fascinating and often overlooked potential of deep geothermal energy.

By discussing the potential of geothermal energy in Iceland and the Pohang earthquake, and closely following the protagonists of the drilling project in the small village of Vinzel in the canton of Vaud, as well as opponents of the deep geothermal project in Haute-Sorne in the Jura mountains, this documentary film offers a nuanced overview of the challenges and promises of geothermal energy, inviting viewers to reflect on the energy solutions of tomorrow.

Experts, engineers, and citizens reveal the hopes, successes, obstacles, and controversies of this energy transition.
