What can a video
change?

Les petites vérités de la mobilité: a study that distinguishes observed effects from initial intentions.

Comparing to learn

This series of ten short videos was produced with Citec and support from the Modus Foundation. The documented study used a randomised trial with 300 French-speaking participants in France, Belgium and Switzerland. One group watched an episode and a neutral video; the comparison group watched the neutral video.

What was observed

The source reports an intention to use active mobility that was 5.12% higher in the exposed group, and a perceived norm that was 6.36% higher. No significant effect was found on attitudes, and no consistent effect on self-efficacy.

These results concern intentions and perceptions in particular. They do not demonstrate an actual change in travel behaviour. An absence of effect also provides grounds for reviewing content and measurement tools.

Distribution

The study examines exposure to videos in an experimental setting. This research design is separate from the series’ public distribution.
