Giving change the means to grow

Stories shape what a society sees as normal, possible and desirable. From journalism to cinema, podcasts to immersive formats, media can shift these perceptions.

Through FUEL, OurFrame aims to give this potential the resources to develop and contribute to systemic change.

Building a new funding model

Those who fund change and those who shape stories still work together too rarely. Philanthropy can bring them closer by supporting independent creation, experimentation and evaluation. For foundations, the potential is twofold: reaching large audiences and creating favourable conditions for the other work they fund, by influencing knowledge, attitudes and social norms.

Sharing resources and knowledge

At the intersection of media, science and philanthropy, OurFrame seeks to connect these worlds. Our role is to create conditions for lasting collaboration: bringing people together, sharing evidence and methods, and developing pooled funding. This shared infrastructure should help a whole community move forward.

Supporting funders, protecting independence

We aim to help foundations, public institutions and other funders understand the value of applying Theory of Change to audiovisual media.

This kind of funding carries a real risk of influence: funding can quietly shift an agenda, soften a question or encourage silence. Pretending otherwise is precisely how that risk takes hold.

To contain it, the funder’s role must be separate from the creator’s. Dialogue about impact objectives respects a non-negotiable boundary: the teams’ editorial and creative independence.

Our model remains nonprofit, and we reinvest all our resources in our mission.

Sustaining a virtuous circle

  1. Content designed for impact
  2. Measuring effects and sharing lessons
  3. Building trust
  4. Securing new funding
  5. These resources allow more work to be created, tested and distributed.
